Thank you for
The time we shared.
Thank you for
The time you cared.

Thank you for
The memories.
Thank you for
Being stronger than me.

You have chosen
To close the door.
You just don't know me
Anymore.

You are young
Half my age
Yet you held the key
To my cage.

I am free
At long last
From the haunting
Of the past.

I leave behind
A tattered heart.
Looking forward to
A fresh start.

The memories
Are good indeed
But it's far better
To be freed.

Thank you again
My once dear friend
I'll remember you always
Til the end.

Doors were meant
To work both ways
Looking forward to
Happier days.

Yes,
doors were meant
To work both ways
But mine will always
be open.
This is not a goodbye or a lament. This is an acknowledgement of an ending and the acceptance of a new beginning. Sometimes we need the eyes of someone else to see our way, no matter their age. Wisdom comes not with age but with foresight. This may not be my best work, but I felt the need to share. One last thought to the Inspiration of this work. Thanks for closing the door, it was blocking one I needed to open. Some day, perhaps the door will open again on something better and new.
